NSC - Dome

NSC - Dome

Dimke Excavating was hired as the General Contractor to construct the largest dome in North America (by volume) at 451’ x 260’ x 110’ high.

This was constructed on an existing artificial turf field which made it very difficult. We had to butterfly the existing turf leaving all we could making staging very limited. We then excavated 12’ wide footings, large air duct vaults and creating mechanical areas needing large natural gas and electrical service.

The dome is seasonal so once all grade beams were in-place we backfilled having to place some additional drainage due to the new walls. The rolled back turf was reinstalled and the dome was placed and inflated.

Dimke coordinated multiple subs including electrical, heating, fence, concrete, turf and the dome contractor on this project all working together to turn the dome over to the owner almost one month early.
